Wyndham to Offer Green Hotel Prototypes

PARSIPPANY-TROY HILLS, N.J. — Wyndham Hotel Group, headquartered in Parsippany-Troy Hills, announced June 2 that it will offer LEED-certifiable, new construction prototypes for its two largest brands, Days Inn and Super 8.

Wyndham Hotel Group made the announcement at the Annual NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference. The two prototypes — which focus on style, performance and efficiency — are complemented by updated offerings for the company’s Baymont Inn & Suites, Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham, Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham and Wingate by Wyndham brands.

All LEED-certifiable prototypes come at a time when Wyndham Hotel Group is seeing significant interest in new construction. As of March 31, the company had signed agreements for more than 140 new construction hotels throughout the U.S. Of those, more than 30 have broken ground and are currently under development.

“This is one of the strongest development environments that we’ve seen in the U.S. in the last decade and we want to be sure that all of our brands are well-positioned and that we’re making it easy for prospective developers to do business with us,” said Geoff Ballotti, president and chief executive officer at Wyndham Hotel Group, in a statement.

“As a company that’s been nationally recognized for its ongoing commitment to sustainability, providing complete solutions that not only cater to the evolving needs of guests but that enable LEED certification is of the utmost importance,” added George Scammell, vice president of global design at Wyndham Worldwide, in a statement. “Whether it’s the bright, vibrant and comfortable design of Days Inn or the warm, accessible and affordable appeal of Super 8, we’ve tried to create offerings that are distinct, sustainable and meaningful.”

In addition to refreshed prototypes, Wyndham Hotel Group also unveiled refreshed design guidelines for hotels domestically to be used for both conversion and property renovation projects. The guidelines are available across almost all of the brands within the company’s portfolio and include updated schemes for not only guest rooms but also public spaces. In addition, most feature key brand-defining elements to achieve a consistent look from property to property and enable current owners to renovate over a set period of time.

To help current owners and prospective developers learn more about its design and development offerings, Wyndham Hotel Group has launched a newly updated online portal, whgdevelopment.com. The website provides access to brand development brochures, property renderings, sample project manuals, upcoming company development events and other information about the hotel group.
