Maureen Guttman

Maureen Guttman, AIA was named the new executive director of its Building Codes Assistance Project, a joint initiative of the Alliance to Save Energy, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy and the Natural Resources Defense Council. An architect with 25 years of experience in energy-efficient and green building design, Guttman is also the Alliance’s new senior director of building programs.

A member of the International Green Construction Code Development Committee, Guttman has also served as executive director of the Governor’s Green Government Council in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where she designed and managed new programs for energy efficiency projects and developed High-Performance Building Standards. From 1996 to 2003, Guttman headed her own architecture firm based in Pittsburgh.  Additional professional affiliations include the American Institute of Architects’ national board of directors and Pennsylvania chapter. With a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Canegie Mellon University, Guttman has received several awards, including the President’s Award for developing an educational video, aimed at state and local governments, on environmentally-preferred purchasing.
